Pilgrimages mostly take bath from this holy water. Muktinath is one of the harmonies of Buddhist and Hindu religion which is 48km away from the northeast of Jomsom.
The Hindus call the sacred place Mukti Kshetra, which literally means the “place of salvation”, Whereas Buddhist call it Chumming Gyatsa which means ‘Hundred Waters’.
Hindu Vashanavites consider the Muktinath to be one of the eight most sacred shrines on earth and also one of the 108 holy places where Lord Vishnu is worshipped. Buddhist considered it a sacred place of Dakinis goddesses known as Sky Dancers and also believe that Guru Rimpoche the founder of Tibetian Buddhism meditated here on his way to TibeAfter the prayers at the temple, people pass through Mebar Lha Gomba, the small monastery of ‘miraculous fire’ which is situated near the entrance of the temple. The monasteries are famous for continuously burning natural gas fire and a statue of the Buddhist Deity Chenrezig.
